Let's Get Started
Here's what the manuscript editing process looks like:
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
- It starts with the contact form below or an interest form to help me understand your manuscript and your goals.
-
Next, I'll ask to see your manuscript to help me pinpoint appropriate services to offer you quotes on. (Your manuscript does not have to be "ready" at this point. I just need to get a feel for it.) I'm also happy to do a free sample edit, if requested.
-
Once we agree we're a good fit, we'll lock down rates and dates in a contract.
-
I’ll send you an invoice for 50% of the fee. On payment of this, your slot is officially booked in my schedule. (Teen beta-reading services do not require a down payment.)
-
Email me your manuscript by the start date. I'll dive in right away and stay in touch throughout the edit.
-
Important: You must stop working on the manuscript while it's in editing, or you'll have a mess of changes to coordinate between two copies. This is a great time to write your query letter, book description, proposal, synopsis, author bio, acknowledgments, website copy, etc. Then when you get the manuscript back, you'll have fresh eyes to fall in love with it all over again!
-
When the edit is finished, I’ll send you an invoice for the remaining 50% of the fee.
-
Upon payment, I’ll send you the edited manuscript and a letter explaining my edits. Copyediting services also include a style sheet customized with terms and important details tracked in your manuscript.
-
After the edit, I'm always happy to answer follow-ups, so please don't hesitate to reach out!
